When cash is tight, the last thing you might think of is going on holiday, as this is surely a luxury that you cannot afford? However, if you can do it on the cheap, then a short break would be the best tonic in the world to cheer you up and refresh you.
Finding holidays cheap is possible – flights are now cheaper than ever, so it is usually possible to find a great deal to Spain or Greece with a low cost carrier. If you are booking during low season, you can usually also find an inexpensive apartment in a resort. If you split the cost with three other friends it will be a bargain!
The other advantage of renting an apartment is that you can cook for yourself – it can be great fun going through the local markets and supermarkets picking up local, cheap produce.
You don't even have to spend much when you are there. Stock up on sun tan before you go, take a few good books from the charity shop and hey presto, there is your week sorted.
Relaxing on the beach with a good book, chilling out in my own apartment and eating fresh, local produce cooked to order – now that is what I call a good holiday and at a fraction of what other people might pay in swanky hotels!
