You soon arrive at the Banks of The Tyne, where you will pass the Millennium Eye Bridge and your first Castle at Tynemouth,

Perched on the cliffs overlooking the pier, the moated castle-towers, gatehouse and keep are combined with the ruins of the Benedictine Priory where early kings of Northumbria were buried.

Here you turn north, along the very edge of the coast, then through Bythe Town and eventually joining a minor road to pass through three nature reserve areas before reaching Amble.

Another couple of miles and you will see Warkworth Castle.

You will have ridden 42 flat miles by this point and should have time for a visit. You will spend the night here, or about 4 mile on at Alnmouth.
