Hadrian's Cycle Way  

NCN Route 72  

The ride starts with easy cycling north along the Cumbrian coastline through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty along the Solway to follow the River Eden to Carlisle.  From here, the countryside begins to open up as higher land is reaches and the Roman remains become more and more frequent, with extensive excavations at Birdoswald, before reaching the geographic centre of Britain at Haltwhistle.  With lovely scenery all around, the route undulates until a good descent to meet the next Roman fort at Vindolanda.  The highest point is reached soon after and from there into historic Hexham, the route flattens all the way out to the end at Tynemouth Priory

Sun:  Arrive Seascale. 

Mon:  Cycle Seascale to Silloth-on-Solway

Tue:  Cycle Silloth to Brampton

Wed: Cycle Brampton to Hexham

Thu:  Cycle Hexham to Tynemouth

Fri:  Return transport to Seascale
