Out of Bellingham, you will pass today through some stunning countryside and many tiny villages - look out for the Pele Tower at Elsdon, fortified with 9 feet thick walls! Over the hills again before descending to the River Coquet and from now on, those hills are all on your left. You follow the Coquet through Holystone (stop to look at the natural spring pool) as far as Alwinton and now the route hugs the line of hills, just as it did on the western side. The views along here are wonderful and there are plenty of pretty villages for refreshments along the way to Wooler and the delightful Tankerville Arms Hotel and Restaurant |
