The Beacon Centre (Whitehaven) Y.gif (716 bytes)our first accommodation on the ride will be in or near the pretty village of Caldbeck amongst the fells of the Northern Lake District, with its lovely riverside walk, working watermill and the final resting place of John Peel..

Y.gif (716 bytes)ou will stay overnight here before our transport collects you the following morning to take you to the start at either Whitehaven or Workington.

Whitehaven - Beacon Centre

Y.gif (716 bytes)our first days ride is gently uphill until Cockermouth which has several museums and, is the birth place of William Wordsworth.

T.gif (679 bytes)he ride then follows the River Derwent until the head of Bassenthwaite Lake.

F.gif (706 bytes)rom here, you encounter larger uphill sections through the Northern Fells - be sure to look around as you climb towards Binsey Fell - the views here are magnificent down towards Bassenthwaite Lake.  A few more ups and downs, then its mainly downhill into Caldbeck.
