Sea To Sea Adventure

The Sea to Sea Cycle Route is the flagship of Sustrans long distance routes, having won a global award for tourism in 1996.

It is a wonderful route through the Northern Lake District and over the Pennines, beginning on the Cumbria coast at Whitehaven on the Irish Sea and finishing in Sunderland on the North Sea.

The 140 mile route is covered in either 5 or 3
days with full support consisting of full
accommodation, luggage transfers, breakdown
support and transport to the start plus return
from the finish of the ride.

“… how much we enjoyed it – the name “Adventure” is very apt. We found the contacts with your staff very friendly and the organisation and accommodation excellent.”

The route is covered by the National Cycle Network map no.7, and this map is essential for the ride as the route makes use of regular roads, bridleways, old railways etc. and, as such,
is not a single waymarked cycle track.

Each day’s ride has been assessed in terms of distance and gradients (very important!!) and as a result, we are confident that the five night
holiday that we have designed is manageable for cyclists of all ages except the very young. Our youngest riders have been a mere eight years old,
and the oldest over seventy!
